Production Engineer Whippany As a Barclays Production Engineer, you will use a hybrid of development and operate skills to collaborate across disciplines by applying software engineering principles to eliminate repeated manual effort (Toil) and create automated, scalable, and reliable services.
This is an opportunity for you to contribute to the establishment of a SRE practice/discipline within Corporate GTSM and help to drive the agenda throughout the department whilst helping the wider team objectives.

What will you be doing? o Contributing to the establishment of a SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) practice within Corporate GTSM o Helping to drive the agenda throughout the department whilst supporting the wider team o Assisting in reducing MTTR throughout the department (Mean Time to Repair) and improve stability o Being consistently excellent at all we do and help to drive this mindset throughout the department; making everything we touch better o Helping to drive Full Stack Observability throughout the department and role model how this can be used to achieve our objectives and reduce MTTR o Contributing to the adoption of Automation and help to role model how this can be used to drive efficiencies, consistency, reduce MTTR and achieve our objectives o Helping to drive technical excellence and accountability/ownership of the full stack that makes up our services What we're looking for:
o Working knowledge of supporting and maintaining production environments with distributed systems and highly available services o Working knowledge of IT Infrastructure components (such as Linux or Windows Server OS, MS SQL or Oracle Databases, Networks, Load Balancers, Storage) o Awareness of Observability/Monitoring solutions (such as AppDynamics, Thousand Eyes, Splunk, ELK or similar) Skills that will help you in the role:
o Working knowledge or an interest in modern programming languages like Java and Python o Experience of working in either a SRE or DevOps model would be desirable, however if you don't have experience but do have a passion and a demonstrable understanding o Knowledge of CI/CD Pipelines and Repositories, for example Jenkins and GitHub o Ability to construct SQL queries and interrogate databases Where will you be working?
