Staff Accountant
Staff Accountant wanted in Florham Park, NJ!Pay:
$26 -$32/Hour
Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of our company's reports and statements.
In addition, they look for ways to improve efficiency and recognize unnecessary expenses, and regularly update company records with details about income and itemized expenses to reflect the most accurate information and meet financial regulations.
Responsibilities:
Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
Maintains the general ledger.
Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Ensures SOX compliance.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field 4-5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (medical device preferred) Strong Understanding of GAAP Strong understanding of AP and banking processes Previous ERP experience Proficient in MS Office, specifically advanced functions in Excel; knowledge of Sales Logic/Sales Force a plus.
SOX is a plus but not required Excellent attention to detail and must be highly organized.
Effective verbal and written communication skills a must Need a team player, who is collaborative with a positive attitude.
